Default what colour pads?

i ride mostly cross country but do a lot of downhill also. i was using gold coloured pads(magura clara 2001) even though the brakes are promax(i know i know ) the pads wear pretty quick every 2-3months but they are pretty good except downhill. i read somewhere the gold pads are not suitable for downhill use so want to try another colour but not sure which? my dealer says theres no difference between the colours red green and gold.i just want to ask if anyones tried the different types and would you recoment which colour? i want the longest lasting and best braking but cant afford to upgrade the whole brake system just yet. thanks.
