I uploaded many new videos, hours of entertainment for all to enjoy.. Most of the coverage is from the 80's with a few early 90's videos thrown in for good measure. Lots of 1987 and 1988 TDF coverage as well as Andy Hampstens 1987 Tour of Switzerland win. Drop me an email or PM if you are interested in the full lengths versions for those winter training days..

Great Vids!
Thanks for the memories and inspiration! Do you have the 84 Olympic Road Race kicking around anywhere by chance? |

Terrible coverage. Due to various factors (Eastern Bloc boycott, heat, lack of strong amateurs) the field blew up right away. It looked like you were watching a very long 30 rider club ride - groups of 2 or 3 here and there, few spectators, super wide roads, few follow cars, and lots of shots from far away helicopters which simply emphasized the loneliness of the course. The crowds did accumulate on the last couple laps and Grewal and Bauer's battle was interesting. Two Norweigans were following (Dag Otto Lauritzen was one) but you never got a sense of urgency from their chase. Having said all that, it'd be nice to have the tape back. cdr |

Some great racing history there - thank you.
One thing it makes me wish for though is to !!!BAN TWO-WAY RADIO!!! It was soooo much better back then for the fans!

The final 1989 TDF TT has always been one of my favorite. With Armstrong's seven wins overshadowing everything I often forget how great the classic cyclists really were. That is not to say that I don't love and admire Armstrong.
In the TTs Lemand's style and equipment looked light years ahead of everyone else. Thanks SoCalRider for your time and efforts. That was fun to go down memory lane. Peace ![]() |
