Default Iron Horse Mountain Bike, Good?/Bad?

Hey, This is my first post so her it goes

I have outgrown my previous mountain bike and am ready to step it up a notch. I have been looking at the '07 Specialized Hardrock. I have also talked to the local bike shop and he says that he can get me a nice Iron Horse for less money. I want a bike that can take a beating on the trails but still be reliable. I think i am going to stay with a hard tail bike.

Any thoughts or opinions would be great, Thanks.
