Default Got Myself Lost

We have made it to Melbourne at last. Been here two weeks. Got my bike back from the removalists, had to wait till our rental accommodation was ready. It was a long two weeks.

I got to go for a ride on Sunday, I was going to do a dry run to work so I could see how long it would take. A bit sad I know, but a good excuse for a ride . whereis.com, says it should be about 16-17 klm from Newport to Burnley. I did 41.5 and did not get any where close to work . I even had a map that Cycle Vic sent to me before leaving Brisbane. I did make it finally to docklands, but with the U2 concert on there was traffic everywhere, so I gave it up as a bad joke. Though I did learn that the Westgate punt would have been an excellent option for me had it still been running. (Not a political statement)

I did also learn how to get home from docklands, which means next Sunday I can get that far before having to look at the map again. If anyone has any good tips for an ex Brisbanite on how to get from Newport to Burnley (swan street) I would be grateful.

I must say I really did enjoy the ride though.

Before I suggest a route, do you prefer road or cycle paths ?

forget whereis.com. use www.street-directory.com.au as it uses the full melways.

+1 on using street-directory.com.au, whereis.com is a load of rubbish.

I was hoping to use path at this stage. Just because I am so unfamilure with the roads that I don't want to make a fatal mistake.

How about this one.

It looks like most of this is on main roads, but from memory, there are bike paths along the side of most of these roads, I think.
