Default Security Locks

I'm awaiting the arrival of my bike, but I havn't got any kind of accessory for it, so I figured one of the first things I need is a lock. What lock's gona be the best for me? I'm gona be using it around town so will at some point be lockin it up against a fence or somethin. I remember the U-Lock I owned 10 years ago was really heavy, and I wouldn't want somethin so heavy this time round, after lookin for a lighter bike.

What do people recommend?
