Default please help, hub problem?

new to the forum, so take it easy on me

i recently aquired a new bianchi pista 06, all fancy and chrome for a really good deal brand new. Sadly, ive run into a problem with it and ive only had it for a week.

there seems to be some play in the hub, if i pedal hard everything seems to slip forward about 30 degrees, and then it locks in again. once it slips forward, it seems like it is tightened and wont slip forward more, but if i start to pedal backwards for brake, the whole thing seems to slip 30 degrees backwards again and lock in. is my lockring not tight enough? im not sure what to do and could really use some help. its turning out to be quite dangerous when i need to brake and just slip instead.

Your lockring is probably loose... you should take it back to where you got it... hopefully a LBS and tell them what the problem is...and ask them to tighten the lock ring...I would also inspect the threads and make sure they aren't wasted if they are I'd raise hell about not putting the thing together right...

turns out the guy who put the sprocket on at the store must have completely stripped it, because my wheel hub threads are obliterated. i brought it into my LBS (Bianchi dealer) to call bianchi and tell them to send me a new wheel since its under warrantee. bianchi hasnt responded in the last 6 days.....

its difficult because the place i bought it from (back home) is 4 hours away from where i goto college. so i cant exactly dump it in the hands of the guy who messed it up and tell him to fix it. im suprised bianchi isnt handling it quicker... it totally sucks, i have to ride this thing pathetically free-wheeled until then.

sucks, same thing happened to me when i got my sputnik, took it out to the parking lot, resisted a little, slipped a good half pedal stroke. guy admitted he forgot to check the lockring when they got the bike in, fixed it on the spot and i was on my way. hope you get a new wheel soon
