Experience the new vibrant Soweto, the people of South Africa and their sport, the political and historical sites of Soweto!

The Event

This unique event will welcome cycling from all disciplines. The main route will be ridden by road racers and amateur cyclists. A world first will be the race participation of the Dikwiel, delivery style bikes. BMX riders will compete at the start finish, in the Elangeni Events Arena. A mountain bike trail will descend from Sontonga Hills and also finish at Elengeni. At the finish will be a concourse competition for the best decorated bicycle.

Safety & Security

The reality is that people in the township are much more "hands on" in terms of dealing with criminals and by making the race part of the community this ensures safety. So over and above the obvious police and metro presence, there will be 500 locally sourced and trained marshalls, the taxi industry will be recruited to supply transport logistics getting them on board from a safety and control perspective.

Road closure ensures that the cyclists will only be in the policed and managed route and not randomly cycling in problem areas. Park and ride options will be available from Nasrec to the start for any access concerns and the start is 5 kms from Nasrec road and will be demarcated and policed.
