I've been practicing trying to ride wheelies and I'm not getting to far. I ride a Scalpel and the most I can get is two or three pedal strokes and I have to set the front end back down. Speed seems to be the cause. I start going to fst. I read that you got to tap the brake a bit to keep the speed down but when I do that I end up dropping the front down. It just seems to be taking to long to master this stunt.

Hi mofiki
You sound like your coming on well with the wheelies. If the front wheel keeps dropping get you weight further back to the point where all you weight is directly above with the rear axle. Oh and this is another practice makes prefect. Found this Page with Video clip if it helps http://www.downcycles.com/techtips_wheelie.htm |

Thankx. That is some good info. I already shortened my stem from 120mm to a 100mm last week. My saddle is almost level with the bar height. I think I need to try the straight arm thing and extend my body back over the front wheel further. I can't wait to get out and try again but I'm in the North East and as everybody knows we are flooded out here.

I have the speed problem too, but it seems that keeping your weight really ballanced counteracts this problem. If you keep practicing your balance, you can go 2mph or 15mph and maintain the wheelie. However, dismounting at fast speeds hurts the toes. |
