Ok, I know I'm not the only one this happens to so here it goes. After riding somewhere around 8-10 miles my "crotch area" goes numb. Is this a seat adjustment issue, do I need a different seat or what? I'm currently riding in a pair of cotton gym shorts and a t-shirt if that matters. Give me some feedback on issues that could help solve this. Thanks, Greg

I have noticed significantly less numbness when I have used proper cycling shorts to when I have used leggings designed for rowing. I tend to ride in a pair of lycra shorts with baggies on top. You don't need underwear when you use cycling shorts - wear next to skin. This way you don't get chafed by the seam up the middle of all normal briefs/boxers etc. 8 panel shorts are regarded as being the best as they will give the best fit. The shorts should be tight enough such that the material is taut but not such that it cuts off circulation. Hope this helps. |

I stopped by the LBS today. He suggested what you did, cycling shorts, as well as seat adjustment then possibly a new seat if the problem doesn't resolve. So, here we go to see what works best. I'm taking the bike in Thursday. Any other suggestions?

If I have this problem with a new bike I adjust or replace the seat & it never fails to go away.

I angled the front of the seat down just a little and it made a huge difference. Almost 14.5 miles Thursday night without numbness. I'm sure it will get even better when I get my cycling shorts. If it continues after the shorts, then I'll look at a new saddle. Thanks, Greg
