Angry What the F

so i get a new hybrid for campus/light touring (specialized crossroads), take it on a nice hundred mile, two day ride last weekend... ride no problem... but then when i take it out yesterday for a nice 20 miler, i notice the gripsh*t isnt doing what its supposed to, or rather its doing what everyone says it does... Fs up on me. so i get it home and see why i cant use my higher gears on the rear cluster, and what do i discover... the wire CUT THROUGH the plastic mount thats supposed to hold it in place. WTF. to make things worse, i go to the LBS and they tell me that, no, i cant get a new part, i have to get a complete unit, but yes, my warrenty will allow me to switch to rapid fires, BUT.... THEY WONT BE IN FOR ANOTHER WEEK!!! this means a week off the bike, just when the weather looks like it might not be sh*t for riding. GAH! i guess thats what i get for spending within my limits
