I'm thinking about getting a recumbent and I'm leaning toward Cycle Genius. But I wanted some opinions from more experianced folks...
Background... I used to race road bikes years ago but now I'm an overweight married father of 3 and looking to get in shape. I've been riding a mountain bike but I like the comfort of a recumbent. I'm 6 feet tall and weight 285. I worry a bit about my weight and I cant spend over about 1k$. I've been thinking something like the Cycle Genius LTX might be good. The EZ Sport may also be a possibility. What do you guys think? |

I would think the EZ Sport would be an ideal choice and the price point is reasonable for your price also. I was out on my Ez-1 today for a 20 mile utility ride and was glad I owned it, even though I have a Lightning Thunderbolt SWB and have a Rhoades Car on order. I think you would be a 'very' happy camper with the EZ Sport. I would rather own one than my EZ-1 but I just spent $2,400 on my Rhoades Car and it will be a while before I add any more bikes to my stable. :O( |

Aliel; a year ago I got tired of the crotch, low back, shoulder, neck and hand pain associated with DF bikes. I bought a Sun EZ Sport AX and love it. I weighed 285 at the time. Now I ride more (read; comfort) and weigh 230. I recently saw a used one (1yr old) on craigslist for $550.00. It was an aluminum framed one. You might want to wait & watch for a deal. The only drawback is that they are heavy, but all the lwb bents are a little heavy. Definately test ride one before you decide what to buy. I have come to appreciate what a really nice bike the EZ Sport is now that I've had one for a year (2000+ miles). Nice equipment, good design and plenty of comfort. bk

Well I did it! I bought a RANS Tailwind. I apreciate the replies and I looked at the EZ Sport but I couldn't find one in my pricerange in my area. I've had the RANS for only a week and have put 150 miles on it and I love it.
Thanks again for the replys. On a side note, my wife liked it enough that we found her an EZ1 to ride with me. So we're now a bent couple. ![]() That I got both of them, lightly used, for under $1000 is a bonus! |
