Default Newbie question about speed

If 2 riders that weigh the same, ride in the same gear and the same cadence then what other factors will affect their speed?

In short does 80 rpms=80rpms or does the power in the rpm etc make a difference?

If the 2 riders are side by side, the only factors should be;

1. Tyre pressure

2. Riding smoothly in a straight line

or not.... assuming they were in the same gear, had the exact same roll out, were at the exact same cadence and rode over the same distance then their time would be the exact same... but one rider may have to exert more energy to remain at that cadence and in that gear.

yup you're right, if it's not downhill, same cadence and same gear = same speed (assuming same crank length and same wheel size)
