hi im new to dirt jumping, just been doing it for a month or two and cant seem to do alot of the jumps in the mbx track. there are alot of corners before the jumps so you cant really get that much speed but you see people jump the jumps easily and all they say is to 'lean back' when you get to the jump, but when i lean back it doesnt make me get more height just pulls ma front wheel up with out lifting up my back wheel. i dont know if im lifting to late mabey ? when i see people jumping then sort of push with their legs like they are doing a bunny hop sort off but they say not to do that :-S. can somebody PLEASE help me !?!?!!? thanks

hey I just posted a thing here and am pretty new to the board but I have been dirt jumping for over 5 years on my Endro Mt Bike and have gotten pretty good I guess. Wana tackle new bigger jumps. My thoughts are speed! You have to get speed and start with smaller jumps. If you have speed it will carry you over the lip pretty easy. Technique is another thing. Email me sometime and maybe I can give you some tips. !! One thing is once you get the speed and technique down you will wonder how you didnt make it over them in the past!! I dont know much about the bunny hoping or what not on the jump, however I was told once to just let the jump do the work...took me years to figure that out!!

i say that you definitely have to "bunny hop" to clear almost all of the jumps. Although it is not a bunny hop that you do, it is more of an ollie like in skateboarding. on flat ground it should work like this: lift your front tire up, and then at its apex lift up your back tire. both tires should land on the ground at the same time. this is the same concept when hitting "jumps" on a bmx track. i raced bmx when i was a younger teenager and had to do that in order to be "fluid" with the jumps and keep my speed up like any track rider will tell you. if you don't understand what i mean with my little tutorial, just ask someone at the track to show you and i am sure they will show you how. what they told you is to not bunny hop which is correct because a bunny hop is when you lift both tires up at the same time, which would cause you to fall backwards or forwards or something of that nature while hitting a jump. i now ride an xc mountain bike and am just as capable in clearing things as i was with my bmx bike. hope that helped, if not submit some more and i will try to answer best i can
