Default SCOTT Reflex V's TREK8500

I had my savings pinned for a TREK8500 and was going to order in a month or so. My local dealer knew I was going to order as well.

Last week he called me up and told me he had another bike in that may suit me better...

A SCOTT reflex. It had been used for a day in an exhibition and he was going to sell it Yen 158000. (approx US$1500): New it was going for Yen 258000 (approx US$2500).

It looked good and because I was a good customer and a member of the shops road racing club he offered it to me for Yen 148000 (aprrox US$1400)

The new TREK8500s were selling for Yen 258000 so I decided to take him up on the offer without any research and bought the SCOTT.

I've taken it out on a few rides and I'm happy with the purchase.

NOt having ridden a MTB though in 5 years I'm not sure what is good or bad....

Any comments? Did I get a good buy?

Not sure right now on the exact model number but it has disk breaks and looks the same as the one shown on this site....

Been so busy lately I haven't had much time to even look closely at the bike to know what I got....

Only had the TREK8500 in mind as I'm riding a TREK5500 road bike (3 years) and I'm happy with the TREK as well.... ( I bought that on special as well for 30% off from the same shop as it was an old model).

What am I missing out on in regards to the TREK8500???

No replies... therefore I give up on the comparison...

The bike goes well. Have had no problems whatsoever.
