Question Buying a Iron Horse Warrior Disc?

I really don't know much about bikes. However I'm looking to get a good one for lots of trail riding and durability. I dont really ride bikes too hard, but who knows, im still new at this kinda of thing...I trashed my old old Huffy so I need a new better bike...The one I was looking at is an Iron Horse Warrior Disc...2005 I believe, it has disc brakes and seems like a good bike for $279.99.

However, Ive heard that disc brakes arent worth a darn if your paying low end money for a bike. I don'r really wanna spend anymore than $300.00 I know I'll get what I pay for but I just dont have the money...any suggestions on the Iron Horse however?
