Default SOCA - Serious Organised Crime Agency

A new FBI-style police squad will shift the balance of power away from criminals to victims, the Prime Minister will announce today. The Serious Organised Crime Agency (Soca) will focus on drug gangs, human trafficking, major fraud and counterfeiting with a 4,000-plus staff, including former spies. It is officially launched today but has been operating as a "shadow" unit for the past 12 months.

Is this is good move by Blair or will this undermine the role of the Police? or will it give Police more time to spend tackling crime in the community?

There is far more crime in London than in New York. Crime has increased massively under Blair's government and that's a fact.
However, what really gets up my nose is this identity card business. The plain truth is Blair has allowed criminal gangs to pour into this country - people not wanted in their own homelands who claim asylum and say they'll be persecuted if they're sent back home.
This is a bit like gypsies in the U.K. going to, say, France and claiming asylum as they're kicked off land or whatever.
The question is what are all these gangs doing over here? How will they help build the economy? Why don't the Chinese or Japanese allow them to settle within their borders for that matter?
To cap it off many of them come in with a criminal record and claim benefits over here, adding to the existing crime.

By the way, the diction and use of the particular smilie gives your secret identity away as a reincarnation of Desert Rat.
What think ye all?

not only that Carrera, but the way he just enters a thread and fires off a few insults instead of contributing to the thread..

this isnt even 'America-bashing' as he puts it...

very boring and predictable...

not necessarily a reflection on your's, but in my particular case it may have been due to the threads being on the, shall we say, lackluster side...
