Changing pedals - Look Keo or alternative ?

Interested to know what pedals are favoured out there - looking for v light pedals for Racing Bike....

I find there's such a focus on what's in the media. Sometimes the real magic dosen't get the limelight. I rode/raced a variety of technologies until I finally surrcame (sp?) to the recommendations of the LBS. Turns out to be the best decision that I could make.

I don't give a sh*t what enyone else says, after several disastrous experiences with "named" brands and analysis with brands that advertise the "weighs less than who ever... (crap)".....

Try Keywin, Ok it's not always that easy to get hold of
, But they keep a cyclist on their pedals more than look, speedplay etc... (IMHO) What have you got to loose, Just the admiration of your mates who have read the latest magazine as you beat them to the line......

I switched from Looks to the new Ultegra pedals. I was plagued with cleat creak on my Looks (they would emit painful noises after about two weeks use, noise that drove me to the edge of insanity). The Ultegras have no such noise even with old cleats and I also find them easier to click into, and I believe they are quite light too.

I currently have the Look Keo Carbon pedals and I have to say they have been the best pedals I have ever owned! The only drawback with them are the cleats-if you don't put a rubber cover on them I would advise anyone to watch their step-they're (the cleats) are a touch slippery!!

Just changed from road SPDs (same cleat as mtb ones, not SPD-R) to Keo (Classics - 50 euros from Decathlon in France). I'd been thinking about changing anway bu then found one of the SPD's spindles was bent, so that persuaded me. I find them a LOT easier to get my feet in than the old single-side spds, and although the cleats are slippery, they're not as treacherous as the metal spd cleats! I will be investing in some covers though, as I reckon the cleats will wear out very quickly otherwise. No creaks so far, but it's early days. There was some suggestion elswhere on the forum that changing to Look from SPD might help my numb foot problem due to a wider platform. No such luck - no difference at all. As for weight... if I was that worried about a couple of hundred grammes I suppose I could have bought the Carbon versions, but I'd rather spend the same money on something that makes a real difference, like tyres or a better saddle. If the weight was really an issue, I'd be better off losing it off my belly.
