Default Fork question

This might be a stupid question but I'm gonna ask anyway. My new bike came equipped with a rock shox tora 318sl front fork. It has a lockout feature. When I set the fork to lockout, there is still a small amount of play in it. Is this normal or is the fork malfunctioning? I always figured that when it was set to lockout that the fork would not be able to move up and down at all. Thanks in advance for any replies.

I believe a small amount of compression is normal with the PopLoc Remote Lockout. Here's a link to the manual in PDF format:

Yeah, you must be right. I checked the fork on my brother's rockhopper today and It has a small amount of play in it when you lock it out also. Thanks for the reply.
