30 years ago, on America’s bicentennial, 4,000 bicyclists joined together to ride their bikes across the Unite States in an event they called Bikecentennial. Tons of people still ride their original route, the TransAmerica Bicycle Route, and the group that organized it all has become the Adventure Cycling Association. For Bikecentennial’s 30th anniversary, they want to hear from as many ‘76 riders as possible and they’ve set up a special place for them to register on their website: http://www.adventurecycling.org/ride_registry/index_BC76.cfm. You can go there and check out other people’s rides too. It’s a cool way for Bikecentennial riders to reconnect with each and for the rest of us to have some vicarious bike adventures—even if it’s winter and we’re actually stuck inside. Please pass this along to any Bikecentennial riders you may know!
