Default Irregular Heart Beat

I have noticed that during interval session on the trainer that during my recovery sections once my heart rate hit the levels (~140 – 150) I sometimes gets irregular heart beats, where my heart rate will jump back up, I have recorded these on my monitor and I have touched 233bpm, I have noticed this on the road as you cant safely watch the monitor while riding on the road, Has any one even encountered this?

Thanks

233 is probably the highest number your HRM can record/display. I used to have that heart problem. It was intermittent atrial fibrillation caused by adrenalin (released during the interval). You need to see a cardiologist. Ask for a "Holter monitor" to wear during your training so you can document this more clearly. My problem was cured with a radiofrequency catheter ablation.

See a cardiologist, my friend. And lay off the intervals until you do.

"Irregular Heart Beat" is such a broad term and can explain sudden fast, long pauses, many fast followed by many slow, and beats that aren't full pumps.

Many different things can be the cause, some, no big deal, others, big deal. Try not to lose any sleep over it because it's often not a big deal. However, only a doctor can help you with that one.

Post back to this thread when you find out whats going on.

Yes, a number of times.
It happens in the middle of training when the chest strap loses contact and then the Polar Monitor reads out 233.
The situations vary--in the winter when I use gel to help the contact the 233 thing happens when I sit upright and the strap slides or if I sweat a lot and that makes the gel melt away.

In the summer I dont use gel and sweat does the trick but during long fast descent the swet evaportes leaving no contact and it reads out like clockwork Max HR 232 or 223 or something like that.

Take your pulse when this 233 stuff happens (I know I did!). If it is regular and even no worry. If not see a doctor. The only patients I have seen with pulses of 233 were being electropaced in a cardiac cath lab.
Good luck

your strap is just comming off your chest, or the battery is going. Mine does this allmost every ride, until I get a little sweaty and the contact is better.
If you were at 233bpm you would most likely pass out.
the polar wear-link soft strap works better than the old stiff ones.
