Default Second Chances

Just read a very interesting article about Jeffrey Archer :
The name Jeffrey Archer may be recognisable to you as the number 1 selling author.
In this part of the world he's more well known as an MP who lost a famous libel case in which he was proven to have lied.
He was sentenced to serve time in prison for perjury (he ended up doing three years).
Before he was convicted he had been conferred with the title Lord Archer.

The article described how Archer came back from bankruptcy in 1969 (he had to leave the House of Commons) through writing a bestseller.
But his past seems to be littered with half truths and fabrication (educational qaulifications that never existed etc).

Does Archer (or people like him) really change their spots?

[I]I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles. You should believe in these athletes, and you should believe in these people. I'll be a fan of the Tour de France for as long as I live. And there are no secrets" - this is a hard sporting event and hard work wins it - Armstrong 2005 TDF

Nope,he's a compulsive liar and a con-man,like most of the party which he obviously felt would easily accomodate his personal philosophy.
He won't stop what has served him well and neither will his ideological comrades.
