When I first started out and was doing less riding during the week and long rides on the weekends I used to feel that way too - sooooo hungry that I just wanted to eat and eat. Now that I ride (or at least get on the trainer) during the week and ride on the weekends too I no longer feel that way very often. I think that I have also become more careful about eating and drinking on the bike as well, so I don't come home feeling so starving.
Your calorie needs definitely go up so don't worry too much (even at my small size -104 lbs- on a 2.5/3 hour ride I can burn 2,000 calories) ,just make sure you eat good foods and pace yourself. Try to make sure you get enough on the bike too. Eventually with more training you'll probably stop feeling like that as much. |

That happened to me, too... right when I started riding longer distances. A good thing to do is monitor your calories, so that you don't start getting fat or losing too much weight. Try to figure out how many calories you burn on the bike, factor it into your daily calorie count, et cetera et cetera. You'd be surprised how many calories you burn on the bike.
