Default what pedals and shoes to buy??

Hi

just got a new road bike and want to buy some budget pedals and compatible road shoes. Whats best SPD, LOOK, SHIMANO etc.. have looked on the web and there are loads to choose from and havent a clue what to get, whats best, does buying mtb pedals make any difference as they look easier with dual sided attachment???
thanks

I'd recommend Cranks Bros Eggbeaters - 4 sides of pure joy, suitable for on or off road.

Do a search on the forum - there's been a recent thread on this subject.

I recently upgraded my bike to a Trek Pilot 1.2. I got rid of my old pedals (a shame, I should have kept them.) and shoes and got myself a new pair. I purchased Shimano SPD and I used the pedals a few times, never got on with them. My left hand side was weaker than my right and I kept falling off. I've gone back to the pedals that came with the bike minus the cages. But, I've kept the Shimano. I want to go back to it once I'm used to the bike. They are excellent pedals and worth the price.
