I have a '94 Rockhopper 21 speed mtb with chainrings of 28, 38 and 48 teeth. The bike has a SHIMANO ALTUS A20 front derailleur that I would like to replace with a SHIMANO LX.
The problem is this: The Shimano manufacturer's spec sheet mentions that the "MINIMUM DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TOP AND INTERMEDIATE [chainrings] IS 12T". And on my bike the difference is only 10T. If the LX is installed on my bike, will I experience shifting problems due to being "out of spec"? |

Correction, the chainrings have 26, 36 and 46 teeth each.
