Being a student, I had plenty of time to exercise, prepare reasonable meals and generally keep some form of a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle.
Now that I've just started work I'm often stuck between the option of crisps (I believe these would be called potato chips over the waters), sausage and chips (fries), or a chicken sandwich. If I'm honest, the crisps often win out simply out of simplicity and convenience. But I know I can't keep that up, so I want some healthy suggestions, something fairly simple, but healthy... |

I eat disgustingly processed meat saturated with artificial coloring and flavors. It comes with veggies that have the same treatment. Why? Only $0.94 per day. Why can't good food be cheap?

This is what I take to work every day (I prepare it the night before) 1 chopped carrot 1 chopped pepper (red, green or yellow) 6 cherry tomatoes 6 Florets of broccoli 6 Raw sprouts 1 Tin of Tuna 1 Apple 1 Kiwi fruit 1 Banana 2 Tangerines 1.5 litre mineral water I just spread it throughout the day and if I get hungry, I eat some mixed seeds. Eat the fruit towards the end of the day if you train after work. The fructose acts as energy. Eat a normal meal at night and have some toasted bread and honey before bed time to keep your liver glycogen levels topped up. That way your muscles will repair overnight. |

I'm kind of the same way, I have something prepared a head of time. Although, I make up stir-frys made up of brown rice, lots of veggies, & 3oz of some sort of lean meat. I make these up about once or twice a week and freeze them. They're all well balanced, (10%to15% protein, 20%to25% fat &60%to70% carbs).
Another alternative that I use when I have to drive or don't have a microwave to heat the stir-fry, is a peanut butter sandwich and some fruit. I use natural PB & wholegrain, stone ground bread. The sandwich is pretty well balanced and is a descent souce of high quality protein. |
