the french have made so many contributions of class in the way of their culture and style it is time to recognize them amidst the increasingly unfashionable
anti-france demeanor of some in the us. their culinary skills have influenced, if not defined contemporary cuisine and all it's variants. not to mention wine and cheese. an untiring patron and benefactor of modern cycling. a world scientific leader and innovator. maintaining a sense of national pride and indentitiy even through adversity. historical contributions to the revolutionary war were pivotal for the formation of the us. a government with the ideal of providing for the people without permitting an elite minority to control the system. a history of revolution and freedom. a national identity based on culture rather than military dominance. from skiing to sunbathing on the riviera, this is it. these are attributes to appeal to all across the broad spectrum of political belief, from progressive to conservative. let us put aside any short sighted predjudices and raise a toast from the right or left hand and give credit where it is due. You missed some other good aspects of French culture :
their rugby team is superb. French cinema (Louis Brunel) is superb also. The French philosophy and thought has been highly influential. |

GWB was at his morning meeting when the Defense Attaché for the South Amercan region reported that there had been an outbreak of fighting on the Paraguay border and 3 Brazilian soldiers had been killed. A pensive look came over Bush. "That's terrible news", he said. The Aides were impressed by his concern and sat waiting as Bush was lost in thought. After a while, he finally found the words - "How many is a Brazillion?" |

The only French that I have any regard for is The Arsenal football team.
The French hate everyone and anything that isn't French, is it surprising that they are unpopular?

(Actually, some of their old writers were good, like Mollier and Dumas.)
