Smile Touring bike!!!

Hello all
I am looking to put together a touring bike and I have had a whisper about a Raleigh clubman , but I am wondering if it will be suitable.
I am told it is my size ( 22 inch ), made from 531 and it is 10 speed.
To be fair I am only really interested in the frame as I would like to assemble my own bike
What I would like to know is , could anyone tell me approximately when they were made, would the rear stays accept a newer hub ie 8 0r 9 speed campag ( I dont mind cold setting a bit ! ). Is the frame gonna be so old that it was made for 27 inch wheels , and if so would 700c fit ok.Again if so would long reach side pull ( tektro or rx100 etc ) fit.
And finally how would the frame compare weight and ride wise to a more modern standard tourer like a Dawes Galaxy?

A lot to ask I know but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Limpet

My old 531 touring frame was 27" wheels and 10 speed. Now is 700c and 27 speed with no changes needed to frame at all. Clubman may have narrower rear triangle or lighter stays, but will probably be suitable for upgrading. As I understand it, newer touring bikes are not lighter than vintage ones.
