Default Removing Manufacturers Stickers

I've finally got enough time to try and remove the stickers/labels on my bike. Anyone got any ideas how to do this?

When I run my fingers over the stickers I can't feel a ridge so not sure where to start peeling. I've got a Marin if that makes any difference.

thanks

Find the edges - they're there somewhere. Then use something like Kleenart (not sure about the spelling) to get rid of the stickiness. (your local art store, or printers will have something similar)

Why would you want to remove the stickers? I've got a Marin, it is ace and I want the world to know I ride quality.
*thinks* Perhaps I'm just a snob.

A lot of times the last coat of clearcoat paint is applied over the decals, so you won't be able to remove them easily. If you can't find the edges this could be the reason.

Thanks for the advice, I think this could be the reason. The bike is aluminium and doesn't have a coloured paint on it - but it does look as though there is a clear coat of something on it.

I want to remove the stickers to lessen the chances of it being nicked.

what i find works is holding a hair dryer over the labels/stickers 4 a while which should melt the glue and then try to find the edges a peal them off, this will make them come off easier, and then put a bit of white spirit on a bit of paper towel then rub off the exces glue on the frame.

Dont think they are stickeers, they are more likely under whatever matte laquer there is.

Try covering them up with nicer stickers!

Does that really work? I find a lock works even better!!!!

If you try to remove stickers that are under a clear topcoat then you will ruin the finish of the bike. If the stickers are just post-production decals then they should peel off no problem. Use a solvent degreaser to clear the glue afterwards.

Are you sure you're not just trying to disguise a bike you've nicked????

Yes I'm sure I'm not disguising a bike that I've nicked!

I wanted to remove the stickers because the kids where I work keep pointing out that Marins are expensive - the bike I have wasn't that much but I'm concerned as these kids have form.

The only reason I asked was coz I'd seen this article in the sunday times a while back and this cyclist has the same bike as me but without the labels/stickers - she'd sensibly got the shop to remove them before buying it.

I'm just gonna leave the stickers where they are. Hopefully my locks will cope with any attacks.

If you buy one that's heavy enough you can just hit the kids with it

buy a load of insulation tape and cover your frame in it.

it'll protect the frame and the stickers will still be there underneath
