Simeoni's complaint against Armstrong shelved
By Tim Maloney, European Editor Italian Prosecutor Giuseppe Quattrocchi has decided to not pursue Filippo Simeoni's complaint in 2004 for intimidation and insults allegedly made by Lance Armstrong during Stage 18 of the 2004 Tour de France, from Annemasse to Lons le Saunier. Quattrocchi nixed Simeoni's case as he decided that the events were part of a sporting event and had nothing to do with public life. Although Simeoni alleged that Armstrong threatened him, the case came down to Armstrong's word against Simeoni's and Prosecutor Quattrocchi has decided that Simeoni's allegations had insufficient credibility to proceed with. In a recent interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport's Pier Bergonzi, Armstrong admitted, "I made a mistake to go after him that day. I thought it was too important but I never said the things he said I did." However, Mario Cipollini will have to appear in court as Quattrocchi wants to look further into Simeoni's allegations that the Italian sprinter sought to exclude him from certain races in 2004 when both riders were on the Domina Vacanze squad. |

BECAUSE IT WASNT IN THE CONTRACT. THEY DIDNT PAY HIM FOR WINNING THE SIXTH TOUR. ASO SAID HE WON THE TOUR. THE UCI CONFIRMED IT. THEY DIDNT PAY. SO HE SUED. NOWHERE IN THE CONTRACT DID IT SAY WE"LL PAY--IF YOU GIVE US YOUR MEDICAL RECORDS. IT"S WHAT LAWYERS CALL A FISHING EXPEDITION. THEY"LL KEEP STALLING AND STALLING> THEY SHOULD BE SUED BECAUSE THEY ARE IN BREACH OF CONTRACT. BUT I HAVE SOME GOOD NEWS. I JUST GOT A GREAT DEAL ON MY CAR INSURANCE. IF YOU THINK THAT'S A NONSEQUITUR, WHY DID YOU BRING THE INSURANCE THING UP IN THE SIMEONI IS A BIG FAT WHINING LOSER THREAD? |

Well, Simeoni has now been relegated to a lesser team and gotten his "just desserts". What team would want to have Simeoni on and incur the wrath of Bruyneel/LA in 2005? Strategically and politically, Simeoni became a negative. More importantly, Simeoni was not a good cyclist to begin with. So why would any rational team choose to retain him when he was nothing special as a cyclist?

In no way am I defender of Simeoni (or Armstrong, for that matter), but he did recently win a stage, at Langkawi I think, so he is not a loser, by definition. ![]() |

Yes, but to reinforce Simeoni's loser ways: I think Simeoni said, when he won the stage at Langkawi, that he wondered if LA could win Plat d'Adet (which was a TdF stage around the time of Simeoni's win). He was sort of baiting LA. Of course, DC, through Hincapie, won Plat d'Adet.
That Simeoni would think his win at Langkawi is anything comparable, or relevant, to a win at Plat d'Adet shows Simeoni's sense of self-importance (unjustified, of course). ![]() |

WTF are you smoking?
FYI langkawi is always at the start of the year, jan/feb, is this around the same time as mid july? Adding to this Simeoni didnt ride the TdL this year either. Rest of your post is as full of crap as you are. Simeonis palmares include two stages in the vuelta ++. If theres any looser around here its you. Quote:

Nice work ! I love these TDF junkies who think they know about cycling ! They just keep shooting themselves in the foot showing just how cycling illiterate they are !
The TDF junkies on this site forget that Simeoni and Armstrong have something in common…. They shared the same coach for a very long time……. one is a convicted and self confessed drug user and the other one is a Italian cyclist…. ![]() Quote:

It was China instead of Malaysia. Tour of Qinghai Lake. Stage 2 on July 17.
http://www.cyclingnews.com/road.php...ai05/qinghai052 Simeoni is now riding for Naturino-Sapore team. ![]() |

In defense of musette in this particular instance, it was I and not him/her who initially said Langkawi, when I meant to say Qinghai Lake.
