Default Is it Lance or is it the TDF, technology, and evolution of Teams

If you recall Indurain won in 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, and 1995, and Lance over the past seven years. Given the fact that there are only truly five days of racing, with many times the leaders content to remain in the peloton over the course of the TDF, the creation of specific teams solely devoted to carrying their one leader up and down hills, the silly focus on different jersey's like the Pokka Dot and Greenhow, bikes that weigh ounces, visual and audio communication that discourages lasting breakaways, monitoring now of heartbeats(what is next?), how can one argue that either Lance or Indurain were the world's greatest cyclists, let alone the world's greatest athlete, as some would insanely suggest. Simply put, they are specialists, almost robots, created to do one and only one thing and that is to win the TDF, and nothing else. Given their endorsement deals, there is no incentive for them to do anything but focus on the Tour, much like Tiger Woods does with the golf Majors. Look to those professionals who race weekend after weekend. Lance, world's greatest athlete, I don't think so.

Peace

I don't recall seeing this quoted anywhere.

By the way, the 2005 Tour de France has been completed and July is almost over. Don't you need to leave now?
