Cool The Joys of passing a Road Bike

Ok used to have a norco scrambler 2000, and just recently got a specialized expedition 2005. I go through this path that fairly used by cyclist and everynow and then i get to pass people on their 3000$ road bike and speedo suits, I think that is one of the funest things to do, just makes you feel good. anyone else get that feeling?
BTW: This is not about flaming people in road bikes

I'm a roadie and yes, I do get a kick out of passing other roadies when I'm out on my mountain bike. One thing to remember though, that guy on the $3,000 bike and full kit might just be going easy on a rest day... or then again, he might just be slow. You never really know. I hate getting passed on my rest days. It takes a lot of will power to resist the temptation to pass 'em back.

Edit: Not to nit-pick too much here, but isn't the Specialized Expedition a hybrid, not a mountain bike?

i do a bit of both and dont ride my mountain bike on the road (why? - road bike - for the road, mountain bike - for the mountains?) but basically everyone thats done that to me just puts the effort in to actually pass me then will eventually slow down so i follow them and wait untll they do and pass them back, unless its really inconvinient

That just cracks me up when I see that, and I see it a lot. I figure they're putting on a show for me. I'll admit it does put a smile on my face to catch back up and see the rider burnt up as I cruise by.

I don't really make a habit out of riding my mountain bike on the road. However, some good trails are in neighboring cities, and I figure I'd rather ride than drive there.

BTW, nice bikes you've got there moparchris. I was about this close (...my fingers are really close together) to ordering a Trance 1 this week. But since I'm really focused on XC right now, I decided to stick with my hard tail for a little while longer. I absolutely love the TCR.

yeah i put the bit about the trance on a while ago but i didnt actually get one because (i work in a bike shop here) the rep told me that theres going to be a carbon trance coming out in the new season stuff (should be here mid october or thereabouts) so im waiting to get a look at that, nobody knows anything about it yet but sounds like its going to have SRAM X.0 which is what i want anyway so i'll take a look at the new season ones when they come out before getting one
