I am moving to France (a small town near Paris) for 9 months in September and wish to buy a used road bike that I can use as transportation as well as for racing in triathlons. I would pay between 200-600 euros and plan to sell it at the end of my stay. Does anyone know of any great websites or stores or have any suggestions for me? Thanks for your help!

hello there, i currently live in south-west france and bought my one and only ever road bike so far second hand in a bike shop in a city called Tarbes, the largest near where i live. the French dont seem to go in for the internet selling thing much, but there'll be loads of bike shops around where you live (this is France after all), so you could ask around and have a browse without too much bother. or found these in the web: http://www.toutcash.com/rayon-8_56-velo-occasion.html http://sport-vacances.listings.ebay...ListingItemList http://www.decathlon.fr/Magasin/sou...deptPereId=4169 the last one is decathlon, dont know if youve heard of it already, its a sport superstore, theres loads of 'em about all over france and its good gear, the team ag2r use them at least that i know if, and they've stuff in the price range you mentioned. good luck! |

Hi, I live in Correze in Limousin and I bought a new Decathlon 7.2 Triple last year for 400 Euros and have had no problems with it. So I agree with Drewdoddy that it could be worth a try Best of luck Ron |

If you are near to a Decathlon store, then apparently a good thing to do could be to try their "Trocathlon" where people sell second-hand sports eauipment including cycling stuff. At the Decathlon near me (Chambourcy, west of Paris) the Trocathlon will be on in mid-October, 17-22 I believe. Could be worth a look, I think that all Decathlon stores do this...
www.decathlon.com may give you more details, if you don't mind reading in French... Edmund |
