Default Kennedy Frames

I'm looking at getting John Kennedy from Kennedy Cyclefit in Blackrock, Victoria to build me a custom frame. Not sure on composition yet.

My question to anyone out there is, has anyone had a frame build for them by John and if so what are your thoughts about them? I'm after any information or thoughts about these frames.

Cheers in advance.

Default Re: Kennedy Frames

have you been given a price?

Unless you have unusual needs, such as you're very tall, very short, oddly long in the body, injured or disabled, etc, etc, or you really want something in a frame that you can't get off the shelf, then you probably don't need a custom frame.

I suggest getting the prices, find out what tubing he'll use (I'm guessing it'll be some type of Columbus alu -- maybe Zonal -- because he loves it), then compare prices of the same stuff in production frames before you get the Kennedy.

As far as other custom builders around town go, he's probably competitive price wise.

I have a couple of older Kennedy alu frames which are fine.

Most of Kennedy's frames are built by Kevin Wigham at Paconi in Braeside, though I believe he's now having custom carbon frames made up by a crowd in Qld. John's reasonably competitive and if you're dead keen on John's sizing model maybe take it to a few shops like cecil walker, terry hammond and the like for a second opinion and a price check.
