I would like to look at maybe getting into track cycling. I was just wondering what is a good weight and height for someone in this sport?. I am currently about 6'1'' and 220 lbs. My body fat is about 7%. I love riding and have tried road racing, but my body weight, even lean, is a problem. I was a very good sprinter in highschool. So why not let that work for me. Does anybody have any ideas on this, before I got out and buy a bike. Also any training tips to get started.

Try all the events and pick the brains of local riders. That's the best way to get started.

I agree. The only thing I would add is that your weight would suggest you will enjoy track more than road (god I hate hills). Track racing though is as much about your personality type and attitude as physical size, Trackies, on the whole, tend to be a little louder and more aggressive than our roadie mates. |
