Question why do my gears make such a bad noise?

ive just started riding a 2005 allez sport and have only done about 200 miles on it. but whenever i try and put it in the fastest couple of gears it makes loads of noise! and its really annoying and doesnt feel at all smooth. how can i fix this? cheers tikka.

do you mean the smallest sprockets on the cassette?

thats the position where your chain is the slackest. Perhaps you need to remove a link or two from your chain. Or if you have been riding in wet weather then the rear gear cable may need lubrication as the tension in the read derailleur may not be enought to pull the cable to its full potential.

or even just try and fiddle a bit with your upper/lower stop positions on the derailleur....its bound to be somthing simple like that..
