Default cycling in the waitakeres

hey there. Having recently moved to west auckland I have been taking my mountain bike off road along tracks in the waitakere ranges. Does anyone know if I'm actually allowed to do this. I haven't seen any signs or info telling me I can't, but neither have I seen anything saying I can.

I had a quick look at the ARC web site for the parks in the Waitaks, and the only one that specifically mentions mountain biking is the Muriwai park. I can't see thast it is specifically prohibited in other parts of the park, but you are likely to get abused if you come fanging round a corner into a group out for a Sunday stroll.

Check out the ARC park info at: http://www.arc.govt.nz/arc/auckland.../western-parks/

You could always call up the Arataki Visitor Centre and see what they say about MTB access to the various parks. http://www.arc.govt.nz/arc/auckland...-parks/arataki/

Hi. We've only had one ride - last Sunday.
We leave from Parrs Park(on Parrs cross road), meeting in the carpark and leave at 7;30AM.
Cheers, Paul ;-)
