Went out for a ride with the children on Monday. Once again, tried to
stay on the road but gave up. I think it's become a bit or a rural rat run and my nerves couldn't take more than half a mile. So bailed out and followed a muddy footpath (not a pavement). The girls insisted on not turning back and, pleasingly, completed a 3 mile off road loop and made it back home without any moaning. But they were covered in mud. I mean head-to-toe mud; bike wheels bunged up beyond turning mud. Still smiling, though. Must have pushed for half the ride. As we got close to home, youngest daughter says "we're so muddy, we're going to be in so much trouble". Eldest daughter (who's figured how these things work) replies "No. /Daddy/ will be".
