I am going to a job where there is a 27 mile round trip commute (13.5 miles each way) and I am looking for a environmental mode of transport. I feel that the journey would take too long on my Dawes Super Galaxy tourer, also there is no shower facilities at my place of work. I was looking for a way of speeding up my commute and arriving relatively presentable. In particular I was looking at various options viz. racing bike, pedalecs, electric bikes, even electric mopeds. I was particularly interested in the Giant Twist Comfort pedalec because it seems to get good reviews. I also considered, various e-bikes. Yet what I really want to know is do these bikes really cut your commuting time? Perhaps e-bikes are better at this than pedalecs. I also don't know much about range because all manufacturers seem to be totally unrealistic, measuring the bikes on artificial smooth tracks. I do have the possibility of recharging at work though. Any opinions advice on this would be much appreciated. |

I have a Dawes Lightning Sport which was inexpensive and I love to ride it... but that does bring up a question for me too, I have this bike (now I know its not expensive as road bikes go...) but I have mainly used it for recreational fitness, so its only been out when its is day and not raining... commuter bikes need to go through different kinds of weather like rain and Im having a problem because I just can't bring myself to risk using it in rainy conditions... |
