Default presta adapter

If you leave the presta adapter on your valve, like a valve cap, will it leak? Just wondering because when I first got presta valves a bike mechanic said that he used his adapter as a valve cap.

nah they r fine as long as you screw the little presta lock nut down

the plastic cap doesnt stop air getting out anyway its just to keep the valve from getting dirty or damaged

i have a presta adapter on my bike all the time
