Revolution 6 is living up to its name by bringing in some of the biggest stars of the European Six-Day scene to ride at the last event of 2004 on December 4th at Manchester Velodrome. The highlight of the night will be a 20km Madison that will feature a host of international and domestic two-man teams fighting it out in what is set to be the best race of the hugely successful series so far.
Already confirmed last week were the Belgium team of Matthew Gilmore and Iijo Keisse and the Scandinavian team of Magnus Backstedt and Jimmi Madsen. They will be joined by the Dutch wonder team of Danny Stam and Robert Slippens winners of the Amsterdam Six and current leaders of the Munich Six.
And to coin a phrase...there's more. Franco Marvulli who took a silver medal in the Madison in Athens will be joined by the team mate with whom he won the European Madison Championship, Alexander Aeschbach, making up the final international team.
But not to be outdone, our home riders are looking to try and take on the international stars, and with the form of some of them at the moment you wouldn't bet against them. The already confirmed team of Chris Newton and Tony Gibb are talking the talk and the young guns of Mark Cavendish, Tom White, Ed Clancy and Matt Brammeier will be lining up to try and spring a surprise on the older teams. Brammeier and Cavendish who recently won the Under 23 Dortmund Six will be racing against each other at Revolution so look out for fireworks there! The remaining British teams will be made up of Junior World Champion Geraint Thomas and Kieran Page, Russell and Dean Downing, Bryan Taylor and John Scripps, Ben Hallam and James Notley, James Taylor and Stephen Cummings and finally Peter Williams and Tom Murray.
The Madison is missing one team at the moment and announcement is expected by the end of the week about the final pairing. Revolution will be opening an extra car park for this event so queues to get into the venue will be minimised. There will also be more trade stands for those who like to take a break from the racing.
