Default Preventive war is the 'supreme crime'

Some good reading

http://www.chomsky.info/articles/20030907.htm

For me Mr. Chomsky is far better (and a little more educated) than M. Moore.

The National Security Strategy declared that the United States, alone, has the right to carry out "preventive war" — preventive, not pre-emptive — using military force to eliminate a perceived threat, even if invented or imagined.

The US invents a rule and then decides that it only apples to them. No wonder they want rid of the UN.

Preventative war? Okay, lemme see if i got it straight. This is a war designed to prevent..a war?

only in America, as the old saying goes.

I think i'll go down the pub tonight to prevent myself from getting drunk. See if that works.

Chomsky is a genius.
I've read this man's articles for a long time and his inate logic is very very compelling.

Preventative war, indeed.
No such thing.
It's an oxymoronic statement.
Bit like imposing democracy.

If you listen to the commentary coming from the USA - you'd think that the
USA has intellectual capital rights to the concept of democracy.
I suggest that the Greeks would dispute that claim.

Noam Chomsky maintains a web log here: http://blog.zmag.org/ttt/
but there hasn't been too much new up lately. I was actually there the other day to see if he had any comment about the election.

It only works if the cops don't pick you up on the way home. After all, what's drunk for them, might not be drunk for you.

Two points... Americans have turned "Democracy" into a commodity which they seek to export as a foundation to export their other more tangable commodities like Coca-Cola and McDonalds. In American Democracy, it's the equality of the a person's purchasing power that counts. And in order to sell more products, that money/democracy must be spread around to the most number of people. American hegemony is based on the economic control of a situation. If we had a billion hydrogen cars on the road do you think we'd even give a damn what a bunch of towel-heads were doing?

Which leads me to my second point... Americans have no compunction about attacking someone who is not "white" and their definition of "white" is extremely narrow. Remember, it was not so long ago that the Irish were not considered "white" by American standards. It was the election of JFK that finally pushed the Irish into the "white" column. After all, how could we elect somone to the presidency who was not white?

Thanks, also to you pomod.
I'm looking forward to Mr. Chomskys articles on the war on terror. I hope he's busy writting a new book on this subject.
