Aaah, the French. Creators of Champagne, the Tour de France, the Maginot Line, the Citroen and snotty french puke people. Why are they so annoying? Why does everyone but the French hate the French? How many Frenchman does it take to defend Paris? (A:No one knows. It's never been tried.)
Without our friends in France the world would be . . . well, we probably wouldn't even notice if they slipped off the face of the earth. Except for a few days in July. ![]()

Okay, lets light a match. Two words
Mururoa Atoll. oh, and their treatment of the french polynesians now that many of them who worked on the nuclear experiments now have cance(among other things) and their children have problems as well. And france still refuses to give them their independence.

Heavens, nobody has come out in favour of France yet?
As I see it, France is presently the dominant European power, not Germany or the U.K. O.K., France isn't a superpower any more but in European military terms it's the leading country. Sure, the French opposed the war in Iraq but this was because the war in Iraq didn't suit France and also France simply didn't agree with the present policy of Regime change. Now the Brits are wringing their hands over the war but didn't dare voice any opposition at the time. But back to Europe: Germany is a non-nuclear power, Spain, Greece, Portugal and Italy don't pack much of a military punch, but France is the second biggest continental power, excluding Russia. Maybe it's a big fish in a small pond where Europe is concerned. Quote:

If you've mistaken me for a big fan of Bush - it's your mistake. I prefer a solid conservative like Lynn Cheney to a middle of the road lib-wannabe like W.

hey come on. what did they do to you. french are good people. artists, poets etc.
Just because they are pacifists or don't know how to fight wars doesn't mean they are bad! Broaden your horizons and see how many things the french gave us. (i can't think of one right now but will come back later with the asnwer to that one )By The Way, who is lynn cheney? |

Lynn Cheney is Vice President Dick Cheney's better half. She's a smart, well educated, common sense lady from Wyoming. I've heard her speak many times and she's got more common sense (and bigger stones!) than 99.9% of the people in public office I've ever heard.
You can read more about her at http://www.whitehouse.gov/mrscheney/bio.html Gotta go - I'm making lunch - a French Dip and a bottle of Perrier OK, the French have some value - not much, but some Quote:

I tried to make it fair
Here are some more French contributions: fighting Nazi tyranny, Citroen automobiles and topless beaches Quote:

The last time I was in Paris visiting with a French colleague he went on incessantly about French contributions to the world - but none of them was more recent than Pasteur. It's quite interesting to watch a civilization (France) implode before our very eyes.

You've failed to see the sarcasm. The French folded to the Nazis.
Now for your history lesson: The Vichy French were the cowardly french who sided with the Nazis and became their lackeys. The Swiss pretended to be neutral while they helped the Nazis fiscally rape the Jews. Now, the swiss have fallen into a state of irrellevancy similar to the French. Quote:

The French wouldn't have had champagne if it wasn't for the british making the glass bottles strong enough. Dom Perignon only blended sparkling wine and perfected that art and that alone. We brits put it on the map as the biggest drinkes of the stuff. What's wrong with a good Citroën? I've seen a lot of nasty comments about the French some are deserved not all...Muroroa Atoll...what about the annihilation of the American Bison to get rid of the original occupants of the country? Come on I hope we're all talking tongue in cheek on this one. I have lived and worked in France for the past 10years and they ain't all that bad...well!!!!! What other country can boast one of the biggest and best races in the world yet can't produce a winner? Anyone else throwing the 'merde' about. Go for it but don't paint them all the same colour...yellow, many an American, Canadian and Brit can vouch for their stregnth, just look at some of the graveyards...lots of allies but a lot of French fighters as well. I'm getting off this soap box..it's the second I've mounted tonight and my legs are getting tired. Maurice C |
