Hi All,
Has anyone used/use speedplay x-series pedals? Are they beneficial? I have had ongoing knee niggles in my right knee for years (which has improved with bike fit, orthotics, squats for muscle imbalance and regular stretching). I just feel like i require more float whilst riding and hence i have been recommended the speedplay series due to such ability of float. Cheers |

I know this isn't what you're after exactly but I'm using Time pedals which have a 17" float available on them. I find them great, although I'm not using the float at that level. Grant |

I use the Speedplay X2's. I highly recommend them. The extra float really helps the knees avoid pain. People with knee problems rave about these pedals as well.

Highly recommended. Unlike Time pedals (which I used before), float is around ball of foot and is not spring-centred. This is much better for the knees. Pedals are also lighter and offer more cornering clearance and less "stack height", but cleats are horrible to walk on as very tall with alu bottoms. (No worse than Time in this regard though.)
Worth looking at Speedplay website and thinking about shoe compatability; can be an issue with cleat placement with some shoes. I would never go back to a pedal system without free float, however, keep up the gym work! |

yes, i use the X 2's and the X 3's on my bikes, they are the best pedals I have ever used and will never need any other pedal now that I found them to be great.
Of course, some people hate them but once you get used to the massive float, they are great. |

Finally bought a set of speedplays! the massive float will take some getting used to but all in all are much more comfortable than my previous set of pedals!!
Cheers
