Thumbs up Philippine Tour Outline

Dear cycling buddies,

I’m not able to go around much due to limited funds.

So I just made an outline of two of our treks here in

The Philippines:

TREK #1

Terrain : mountainous

Total Distance : about 300 kms.; daily average of

50 to 70 kms./day

Road Conditions : (2/3) rough; dust, gravel, & mud

(1/3) paved roads

Total Days : 1 to 2 weeks (w/ rest days)

depends on guests

Points of Interests:

Baguio City - summer capital of the Phils

Mankayan - old mines

Sagada - quaint mountain top village,

hanging coffins, spelunking,

etc.

Banaue Rice Terraces

Current Hotel Rates:

Low end - Php 200.oo to 500.oo per day

High end - Php 1,000.oo and up per day

Van/Truck rental:

about Php 5,000.oo or more per day

depending on the distance & NOT

including gas expense.

Bike & Mechanic rentals:

will have to negotiate / haggle with local

bike shops

NOTE:

I recommend treks here be done in the 1st

quarter of the year. Weather’s the coolest.

2nd QTR is the hottest. 3rd is the rainiest.

4th is fairly average.

TREK #2

Terrain : flat & rolling country w/

occational mountain passes

Total Distance : 700 to 900 kms; daily average of

120 to 140 kms/day

Road Conditions: paved roads

Total Days : 10 days (w/ rest days)

also depends on guests

Points of Interests:

Mayon Volcano – crater can be climbed

when safety conditions permit.

there are scheduled club treks

Irosin town – volcano & lakes

Donsol town – whale shark viewing

Samar Prov. – spelunking

San Juanico Bridge – connecting Samar & Leyte

Islands

Palo town – Red Beach, McArthur Park,

Imelda Marcos’s ancestral home.

Hotel/Vehicle/Bike parameters : the same as Trek #1

Current Exhnge Rates : Php 56.00 is to USd 1

NOTE:

- here, road or cyclocross bikes will do.

- This trek might be too long. Better to slice

it into 3 sections for better appreciation

- English is the 2nd most spoken language here

locals understand the basics.

Please kindly send a short reply if you’ve received this

e-mail. Hope your staff can come up with a great package

for this part of Asia.

Just drop me a line in case you might need a guide here.

Best regards,
