i have some road rash on my elbow.at the moment,it is dry and has become a scab.what i think i want to do is,cover it more often to keep it moist.i covered it for a few days after i got it.its been about 1 week since i got.my school athletic trainer covers it,and used some kind of cream on the bandage.will that work to keep my road rash moist?i think so but do you think this is a good idea or should keep it as a scab?i want it to get healed asap and without much scarring as possible.

If it has been a week, all of the damage is done regarding scar tissue. In my experience, the scab will come off faster and the wound heal faster if you let it have air.
Keeping it covered and moist with antibiotic cream was the right call initially, but now I doubt there is any reason to continue. Admittedly it is hard to say without seeing it. |

In future, keep wounds covered and moist with a topical anit-bac cream.
Try to prevent a hard cab forming, change dressing regularly and it will heal a lot quicker and with less scarring. |
