The legislation Clinton fought so hard for and many in Congress lost their jobs over is finally DEAD! Yes, the ghost of Clinton's past has been silenced. Why? Because this piece of legislation was so flawed from the start, the only way to get it to pass was to incorporate a sunset clause. 10 years was the most life it had.
Was there a chance to extend this bill's life? Sure, they tried earlier this year, only to have the measure soundly rejected. That ghost of November 1994 is still alive. Oh to rejoice! I shall go out and buy a few "high capacity magazines", a flash hider and a bayonet lug. But I do feel for those who live in restrictive states that enacted their own arcane laws against these items. |
