Unhappy Forearm tendon sore

I am having problems with the tendons just below(attatched to the elbow)You can feel them go tight and ache when you hold the bike's bars. As can be imagined this is not what I need as a cyclist. Has anyone else had this problem or are there any ideas apart from rest as to cure this.

I have this from time to time. A couple of things to try: First, some stretches which include the tricep shoulder area - as tightness in the upper arm can can cause problems further down. Second, make a conscious effort not to grip the handle bar too tightly. Wiggling your fingers ever so often can be a good reminder to ease up... as a side note, I find that I grip more intensely when I'm struggling up a steep climb, or when I'm battling the wind.

Good luck.

This condition sounds similar to the one described by Arnie Baker in his book "Bicycling Medicine". He suggests it can be caused by twisting motion, e.g. when shifting, if the handlebars and levers are not in an ergonomic position. This would then cause you to use too much arm in the shifting process.

Sound possible?

BTW, I am not a physician, I just play one on the internet. :-)
