It has been 10 months since your post. Did you find any local riders? I'm in the Valley Forge area, and although riding in your area is a little far for me, you may find some rides with the Bicycle Club of Philadelphia that you would want to join. Check their website at www.phillybikeclub.org Also, check their other cycling related links. They list other clubs in the area that might be closer to you.

I think that www.suburbancyclists.org are also in your area, but they appear to be more suited to advanced skills. May be right for you now that 10 months have passed.

good luck.

Hi, its been 4 months since your post. I do reside in the Glenside area, usually ride Sunday morning appx. distance anywhere from 20 to 35 miles depending on the time available. Sometimes the Schuylkill Trail from Manayunk to Valley Forge or to the city. Other times locally. I do ride with co-workers but sometimes solo. How about you?

I hit the trail solo, due to trying to balance family and cycling. Since I live 5 miles from the trail, I usually ride when the opportunity presents itself. I also will venture on the back roads to Evansburg Park. Summer time is often the easiest, with my kid's sports seasons on a hiatus. I do about the same; 20 to 35 mile rides on Saturdays and Sundays. I also do the MS City to Shore ride in September.

I'm on a Trek 1200 red and white. If you should pass me mention you saw me here.

Hi Gang

I just moved to Glenside and would love some company on a ride. Please drop me an email.

Fix, same here. Family is important but try to ride every Sunday morning. Sometimes ride Thursdays.Usually hit the trail around 8 or 9 o'clock. I'm sure that there are lots of red and white Treks out there but i'll keep an eye out. I have a Specialized Sequoia-brushed aluminum. Usually wear a yellow jersey(red jacket if weather bad).

Welcome to Glenside! What type of riding do you do? Local? Distance?

Hi Scott

I am getting back into it (Work has been crazy) Last year I was a B- rider, longest ride was 66 miles. Tried to hit it at least 2 a week. 1 long (35-50 miles) 1 short (15-25miles) at an avg speed of 15 mph.

I need to be training for Ragbrai in July so I will be out there more in the coming months (Ragbrai 450 miles in 1 week in july).

Let me know if you are interested in that speed and distance.

Went out today on my mtb from Glenside to Valley Green (forbidden drive) which is packed gravel. 18 miles round trip avg. speed about 14. On my road bike I usually do 20 to 35 miles with avg. close to 15 mph. With lots of hills a little slower. Not sure about 50 miles but probably could if I tried.I'm trying to keep this 42 year old body in shape(bad back and knees) I'd guess i'm a C+ now, close to a B. There is a marked course that goes right by my house which is used for the Fox Chase Cancer Center rides. From my house to Temple Univ. in Ambler and back is 19 miles. You can go further out as part of the metric, probably about 40 miles round trip from Glenside, but I have not done that section yet. Schuylkill trail is on of my favorites. Sunday mornings work well for me. Sometimes Thursday mornings. Let me know if this will work, I dont want to hold you back,
Scott

Is there still Glenside/Abington people still riding around. I live near the Willow Grove mall. I usually ride every Sunday for my long ride of the week. It would be great to tag along with anyone. I ride a mountain bike and avg about 10-15 mph depending on terrain. I have yet to try the Schuylkill trail but I hear lots of great things about it. Hope to see fellow local riders around. Thanks.

It is hard to find PA ride buddies, eh?

I do the Schuylkill 3 times a week, sometimes 4 from Valley Forge to the Museum and back. Avg speed 17 mph - hard days - and 15 mph - easy days.

With wife 11 mph. - Super Easy days

Hey Everyone,

The Scenic Schuylkill Century ride is coming up on Sept. 11th.
Check out www.phillybikeclub.org for any info. I'm from the Collegeville area and plan on going on it. If you see a guy on a red FELT-F10R and a gal on a silver FELT-F25R, yell out and let us know you're there.
