Just when you think CM's losing it's radical edge! ![]() Sure beats the hissy fits and silly tanties going on the CM-Melb list at present. Hey, Hippy surely you weren't inspired by photos of my "gladiatorial" CM costume of a few years back? LOL ![]() -- |

I'd try to import one myself, except that changing gears with downtube shifters would probably result in severed artery. I guess there is another reason to go fixed/SS... nah, I'm only allowed one bike in the house, so it has to have gears. This 1-bikepolicy is a pain. Ritch |

I suppose that you are also only allowed one female too? {:-) Demand equality, so there is only one cat, one kid, one of everything. You are bound to find something she wants to compromise over. |

I like that. Actually, the 1-bike policy allows me to claim some kind of perverse moral high ground in that my one bike is my commuter, racer, dirt-road bike (not mtb though - not quite flexible enough to accommodate). I add some aero bars and it is also my triathlon bike. A mid-range '98 Giant Al road frame with Shimano 535 wheels and 23mm tyres. This is the same kind of moral high ground that riders with other kinds of bikes use to justify their choices - nothing wrong with that, mind you. Personally, I don't understand the fuss that some people put up about "low-spoke" and "manufactured" wheels and all that. I've broken one drive-side spoke in about 5000k, which happened about 3000k ago when I mistimed a bunny-hop over a pothole (doh!). Solution: buy spoke, install spoke, true wheel on a rim-trainer using the rim-rollers to guide. Haven't had to true the wheel since. Ritch |

Going to get a BIGGER bike room soon. So all the projects & working bikes be all together (20+?) How sweet. ![]() Even Hippy was impressed at a recent tour of our bike room. ![]() -- |

Then again you said "Our"... Spent last Sat reorganising the shed to accomodate small boat (Sabo for kids) which meant trying to streamline the collection (yeah right!) but just meant I rearranged it and got them red-large-J-hooks to hang a few bikes on and work vertical. Sadly one of our spare rooms is waisted on kids and exchange student! photos ? -- |

One touring bike (26 MTB with racks, mudguards and trekking tyres), one dually bike, one road bike (the old 27" used for distance rides infrequently), one tandem bike. We're doing pretty well on the one bike principle, but still need one folding bike and one recumbent bike. Then there's the rest of the family's bikes. Cheers Peter |

At age 16, I had 5 bikes. Sold two since then, have a couple of frames and random bits floating around, but a good place is A) under the house or B) in the bedroom. Might pacify the missus, Ritch.
![]() No? Keep em at a friends place, in that case. And buy them in secret.Develop a cache of ultra-high secret cycling weaponry. Maybe build a small bunker to accommodate them? Or not, as the case may be. ![]() -- |

At the tender age of 16, I had 5 bikes. I had a good policy with the folks; as long as they weren't in their way, it wasn't a problem. Sold two since then, have a couple of frames and random bits floating around, but a good place is A) under the house or B) in the bedroom. Might pacify the missus, Ritch.
