Can anyone tell me what the accepted etiquette is if as a solo rider you
catch and wish to pass a bunch ride using al the available space on a bike path. -- |

I swear by them. :-) A bunch ride on a cycle path? Oh well, I suppose I would approach relatively slowly and call out "passing" when it was clear to the tail-end rider that I was there. An air horn ought not to be employed in this case because it doesn't convey the message "I am here, I want to pass", it conveys "Oi dickhead, get out of the way". As such, it should be used against recalcitrant pedestrians and bikes on the wrong side of the path. You should also ensure that you don't top-post as you go past. ![]() Ritch. |
